Bangalore Jul 1: Bharatiya Janata Party’s Women Morcha led by former Karnataka Minister Shobha Karandlaje today staged a protest against hike in prices of petroleum products by the UPA Government at the Centre.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Shobha alleged ”the increase in the price of Kerosene and LPG was a severe blow on housewives who are struggling to meet the two ends with prices of essential commodities skyrocketing. The poor and the middle class were the worst hit.”
She said hike would further increase inflation. Demanding the UPA Government to immediately withdraw the hike, Ms Shobha alleged the Centre failed to curb inflation and middle men continued to exploit common man.
The agitators expressed their support to the ‘Bharat Bandh’ on July 5 against the hike.
